Twitter vs. Courtesy & Professionalism

Like many people, I saw Colbert get after Senator (D-MO) Claire McCaskill for twittering during Obama's address to Congress last week. I couldn't agree with him (or her mother, "Mama McCaskill") more! Do we really demand greater attentiveness from high school students than from US Senators? It was rude and unprofessional, and frankly I was a little embarrassed that she was my representative. It doesn't make me wish I had voted differently (I read it as a matter of style, not substance) but it was disappointing none the less.

New Blog

Just a quick post to say hello from my new (and first!) blog: forthright.plainlystated.com. I wanted to name it "Retrospection and Introspection" but I believe that's copyrighted*. It would have been harder to say and remember anyway, so I suppose it's for the best.

This blog is meant to be for general thoughts and musings. I am starting a second blog which will cover more technical topics (mostly Ruby on Rails programming, probably).

* Had to look this up.. it's indeed "copyrighted" not "copywritten" :)
